He Said, She said, I SAID!!

He said, She said, I SAID!!

NIV Proverbs 18:21- The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

AMP Ephesians 4:29- Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor wholesome or worthless talk (ever) come out of your mouth, but only such (speech) as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favour) to those who hear it)

NIV Matthew 15:18-20- But the things that come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean’. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean’…

As Christians when we come upon and face difficult times, we are quick to point our fingers at the devil; forgetting that when we point one of our fingers, at least one finger will point right back at us.

Hmmmm, what do I mean?

I am certainly not disputing the fact that the devil gets real busy trying to make us fall short of the Grace of God. But the point is a lot of the time we also need to check ourselves and the things we say, as out of the words of our mouth we birth into existence the things that are thought of, be it negative or positive (Proverbs 23:7). Therefore, bringing us back to the subject matter of the power of our words, in order words, we tend to be an unintentional enemy to ourselves, through the words that we speak over our lives.

I can certainly attest to doing such.

What do I mean?

Using myself as an example; I have on countless occasion spoken negatively into situations, which end up coming to past, to be more specific, whenever I have been tasked to do something, the first thing I always say is “Are you sure you want me to do this, cause I can guarantee you right now that I will certainly mess it up”, and in true form I mess up BIG time. Those are the sort of things that makes us enemies to ourselves, this example being just a cup of tea amongst greater oceans.

Other examples, could be saying things such as “I’m miserable”, calling ourselves failure and many more sad destructive words and sentences.

However, this is not the only way we become an enemy to self, this can also be seen through the things that we accept. The things said to us or around us can sow seeds in our hearts, hence the reason why it is vital to check the people around us.

This being said, because we are people of God, people who crave intimacy with God and we also are people of authority. Christ-like people surrounded by agents/angels of God, angles who take our hearts desires back to God, so therefore, do not be surprised when all the negative things we have in our hearts, on our tongues or in the mouths of those around us come to past.

So guys, it is imperative that we are more sensitive to and aware of the things which come from us. It’s a learning process, it’s not somethings that can be done in a day or few seconds but it takes time, and I believe each day should be a day, in which we endeavour to align our mind to that of our spiritual being.

Finally, guys, this being said, it is also important that when we pray we pray for those who prosecute us, as we are daily prosecutes of ourselves, through the thoughts of our hearts and the negative things which we speak into existence. NIV Luke 5:43-44 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who prosecute you,

NIV Proverbs 15:4- The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

NIV James 1:26- If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless
